Getting an RSA Membership entitles members to the benefits offered by the RSA. The primary benefit includes participating in any RSA sanctioned activity or event, advertised by the RSA, its divisions, groups, promoters or subsidiaries.
Full Membership
Full Membership means the responsible person has purchased an Adult or Minor Membership (online only) for the specified period of one year. The cost of Full RSA Adult Membership is $90 + GST per year and is prorated to be inline with the expiry of the RSA insurance policy. The cost of Full RSA Minor Membership is $70 + GST per year and is prorated to be inline with the expiry of RSA insurance policy.
Trial Membership
Trial Membership means the responsible person has completed an Adult or Minor Membership in wet ink for the period of the relevant event only. Each person is permitted three (3) Trial Memberships. After the first (1st) Trial Membership has been issued, the person is expected to purchase a Full RSA Membership. If the same person uses their second (2nd) Trial Membership that person will be issued with a warning that the use of another Trial Membership will result in a ban from RSA Membership for life. If the same person uses their third (3rd) Trial Membership that person will be issued a ban from RSA Membership for life.
Temporary Membership
Temporary Membership is a single use membership only, which is included in the event entry fee. To reduce the administrative burden on event organisers and promoters, which includes the need to collect monies on behalf of the RSA for membership, the RSA does NOT offer a one event membership for standard activities, but does offer a simplified Trial membership as above. In education events, eg. coaching activities and non competitive sport events, eg. mass trail rides, or any other activity, which includes the use of unregistered motor vehicles, a per rider fee must be paid to contribute to the public liability insurance policy that is applied to each participant of the event. There is no fixed fee for an RSA Temporary Membership and will simply be determined through agreement between RSA Management and the RSA Promoter. This is to ensure that sustainability and affordability in RSA events is achieved and maintained.
Membership Required to Participate in RSA Events
RSA Related (social/ non riding) activities do not require RSA membership, either full or trial as these are considered spectator type events.
RSA Education (coaching/ training) activities require RSA Temporary membership at a minimum, however full membership is suggested as this may reduce the administrative burden on organisers of education events.
RSA Recreation events where vehicles ie. ATV, motorcars, motorcycles, UTV, towables and PWC must be registered, full membership is suggested as this reduces the administrative burden on event organisers, however free Trial Membership is permitted with unlimited use and is automatically included in the ‘sign on’ for RSA recreation events.
RSA Sport events, either competitive or noncompetitive which include the use of any form of registered or unregistered motor vehicle, RSA membership (full or trial) is mandatory, however the Event Promoter may come to an agreement with RSA Management for the use of Temporary Membership.
RSA events whether competitive or non competitive, which include the use of registered motor vehicles in any activity where you are training for, or practising for a race, testing, pace making, reliability trial, or a speed or hill climbing test, or the vehicle was being used on a Track for any purpose, or any such competitive activity, RSA membership is mandatory.
Certain other event types and classifications may also require full/ financial RSA Membership for all participants of RSA sanctioned events. All event organisers are required to promote RSA Membership in all event media. All event officials must hold a current RSA officials certification.
Rider Accident Medical Program
A subscription to the RSA’s Rider Accident Medical Program (RAMP) by members will be optional only, however specific events may require RSA Members to hold personal accident insurance as a mandatory requirement to participate. Any such requirement will be advertised in the relevant event regulations.
