Flat Track clubs across Australia have found it increasingly difficult to afford affiliation fees and the related compliance and insurance costs when associating with an insuring/ governing body in Australia. Such costs have forced many clubs to suspend or cease operating altogether and long gone are the days when motocross clubs held their own insurance policies and had control over their own operation. Back then such clubs were branded "Black" because they were not under the control of any governing body, but these clubs were able to operate without constraint and were usually the most successful and provided the most value for members.
