DISCOVER RSA MEMBER GROUPS

An RSA Group is a locally based collective of RSA Members that promote noncompetitive events and interact through RSA approved in-house media outlets. RSA Member Groups work together to support the implementation of the RSA Objects and promote activities and events in each of the RSA noncompetitive Divisions

RSA Members are welcome to attend any RSA approved event, whether it's promoted by a local Group or a different group elsewhere in the country. Members can Start a Group, join a Group that's closest to them or they can belong to the same Group as family or friends.

RSA Member Groups must NOT charge accountable fees for fellow members to attend group activities. If a Group needs to charge attendance fees and requires a bank account, then the Group should consider establishing an RSA Subsidiary Club.

An RSA Member Group is most suited for:

  • property owners that have their own private track for noncompetitive use, ie. practice or testing of enduro, motocross, mountain bike, etc. that only permits family and friends onsite;
  • organisers of group recreation rides involving vehicles that are registered, ie. adventure, trail, road, trike, etc; or
  • organisers of group recreation rides involving bicycles.

For example, the staff of a motorcycle shop or bicycle shop that are a current RSA Member and registered as an RSA Trip Leader, could organise group participation events sanctioned by the RSA for their customers. The participants of such events do NOT need to be RSA Members but are required to 'sign on' to the activity so they are agreeing to the terms and conditions. The same goes for organisers of motorcycle or bicycle trips that lead their mates on recreation rides, whether on road or off road.

The main point of an RSA Member Group is that the people involved benefit from the RSA's Organisers’ Liability cover for up to $20m. This will cover club officials, ride leaders, event organisers and other volunteers against any claims made against them while carrying out their volunteer roles. All RSA Member Groups are also entitled to create an in-house social group page on the RSA website.

To learn more about Groups and get authorisation from RSA to establish a new group is available in the Member Groups Guideline
